11:55 AM, Block 7100, Gulf Avenue

Citizen assistance: A police officer confirmed the citizen’s report that the flashing lights on the northernmost crosswalk in the town on Gulf Avenue were not working. The police officer noticed that the lights in the northbound lane did not turn on when the intersection button was pressed. The official notified the town’s public works department.

12:08 pm, the 6000th block of Emerald Harbor Avenue

Citizen assistance: It was reported to the police that the water pipe was ruptured at first, but it was later confirmed that the return valve on the residents’ property was ruptured. The homeowner told an official that a family member accidentally hit the equipment. The staff of the Ministry of Public Works shut down the water source and summoned a plumbing contractor for repairs.

5:29 pm, 1500 block of Harbour Cay Lane

Citizen assistance: A resident called the police for fear of interruption of water service to his residence. A police officer learned from the resident that the water service was good all day, but stopped working within 30 minutes before the police officer arrived. The staff of the Ministry of Public Works was informed of this situation by the police. Soon after, the resident called the police again, saying that the water had recovered. The official told the public works staff that everything is fine.

8:03 pm, Gulf of Mexico Avenue and Longboat Club Avenue

Traffic: A driver along the Gulf of Mexico Avenue reported to the police that a car was driving recklessly on the northbound lane and heading south. The caller said he was following the vehicle and turned on the emergency flashing light. A policeman spotted the vehicle where the caller was delivering information, but did not see anyone driving recklessly. A Sarasota police force continued to chase after Xintong Bridge and also reported that there was no driving across the border.

11:44 p.m., 400 block of Gulf Avenue

Citizen assistance: During a routine safety inspection of an enterprise, an official found that one of the fire extinguishing sprinklers of the enterprise was malfunctioning. Although there was no fire, a steady stream of water would still be produced. The officer called the Longboat Key Fire Department, who entered the business and shut down the water source. A detailed description of what happened in the form of a telephone message and left it to the business owner/manager.

4:45 pm, 7000 block of Gulf Avenue

Animal complaint: The police received an anonymous report that there was an injured animal on the road. A police officer rushed to find a dead raccoon and moved it to the side of the road.

4:43 am, Bowsprit Lane in the 500th block

Suspicious event: A homeowner heard a strange sound coming from the first floor and called the police. Two police officers inspected the area and found no abnormalities and no signs of criminal activity.

3:56 pm, 2500 block of Gulf Avenue  

Suspicious vehicle: The manager of an apartment community called the police, worried that a car had been parked in a covered area of ​​the property for about two weeks. The manager told the police that he did not know who it belonged to, and the manager worried that it might have been stolen by thieves. The police learned that it was not stolen, but was registered with an out-of-state company.

8:55 p.m., 3800 block of Gulf Avenue

Citizen assistance: The police rushed to the scene and found a geyser-like water jet sprayed from an apparently broken pipe onto nearby sidewalks and roads. The Ministry of Public Works has been notified. The staff said that they would go to the scene to better evaluate the situation.

1:03 pm, Ranger Lane 500 block

Suspicious person: A homeowner found a stranger carrying a bucket in her yard through a wireless security camera system and called the police to investigate. The arriving police officer found that the property was safe and there was no sign of criminal activity, but did find a pest control receipt at the front door, the date and time matched the time reported by the suspicious person. A neighbor also issued a warning to the police officer, saying that they had seen a pest control technician on the property during the same time period.  

5:29 pm, 600 block of Longboat Club Road

Animal complaint: The police received a notice stating that a seagull was entangled in a fishing line with a hook stuck in its mouth. When the police officer walked from his car to the beach, the original caller told him that a passerby was able to rescue the bird from the fishing line and remove the hook. The caller said that the bird flew away.

1:15 pm, Bay Isles Parkway 500 block

Property found: A police officer went to a retail store based on a report of the discovery of the wallet. A representative of the store said that the wallet had been in the store’s safe for a day or two, waiting for someone to take it away, but no one did. The police officer got the wallet and contacted its owner. He is from a different place but lives there. The police handed the wallet to the owner, and after confirming the identity, returned the property to him.

1:52 AM, 200 block of Jinshajiao Road

Fire: The police and fire rescue units responded to reports of a fire in the resort. The police officer who responded reported seeing smoke on the first floor of the resort's parking lot. The fire was limited to the covered area outside the garage near the beach. Fire rescuers extinguished the fire, but no damage was reported. There were no reports of injuries.
